Converting sketchup drawings to stl or dxf allows you to prototype your part using a cnc mill or a 3d printer.

I convert it with a ruby plugin.

Here is the source I use. http://www.guitar-list.com/download-software/convert-sketchup-skp-files-dxf-or-stl

To install the plugin just paste the files here

C:\program files\google\google sketchup 7\plugins

To use:

1) Restart sketchup

2) Draw your model

3) Select the component you want to export. not selecting will use the entire model

4) Go to TOOLS >> Export to DXF or STL

5) Choose the Export Unit >> Choose Inches

6) Choose Export to DXF Options >> Choose STL

7) Save the file somewhere
